This is very much an event for activists from across the ‘democratic resistance’. A part of the proceedings will be devoted to what we can do practically to organise against this sombre background of an ever deepening crisis in our democracy, government and economy. Bookings are already coming in so act early!
Demonstrations against the killing were seen in cities across the continent with left-wing radicals and other sympathisers taking to the streets.
In Spain, 11 protesters were arrested and several police officers injured when clashes took place in Madrid and Barcelona.
In Copenhagen, 32 people were arrested when their protest in support of the Greek protests turned violent.
In neighbouring Turkey, about a dozen left-wing protesters daubed red paint over the front of the Greek consulate in Istanbul.
Around 150 people belonging to a Danish underground movement took to the streets, throwing bottles and paint bombs at buildings, police cars and officers. In Moscow and Rome, protesters threw petrol bombs at Greece’s embassies.
Journalists came under attack for the first time in the riots, with a Russian news crew assaulted by a mob of about 50 youths, some of them reportedly drunk.

‘Passengers at London’s Stansted Airport are facing a morning of chaos after climate change protesters forced their way into a secure area, causing the complete closure of the runway. The protest, by 54 campaigners, saw demonstrators occupying a runway and taxi area which had been closed for maintenance work at around 3am.’
‘Britain could be signed up to a controversial European Union Constitution within a year, it has emerged. Ireland - which derailed the so-called Lisbon Treaty when voters rejected it in June - has been forced into holding a second referendum on the agreement. One diplomat said: ‘There is still some tweaking to do, but there is an understanding.’ Critics say that the Treaty is almost identical to the EU Constitution, rejected by the French and Dutch in 2005.’
‘Thousands of Icelanders marked the 90th anniversary of their nation’s sovereignty with angry protest Monday, and several hundred stormed the central bank to demand the ouster of bankers they blame for the country’s spectacular economic meltdown.
Tiny Iceland has seen its banks and currency collapse in just a few weeks while prices and unemployment soar — leaving a country regarded as a model of Scandinavian prosperity in a state of shock.
“The government played roulette and the whole nation has lost,” writer Einar Mar Gudmundsson told a noisy but peaceful anti-government rally of several thousand people in downtown Reykjavik.
After the rally, hundreds of protesters stormed the headquarters of Sedlabanki, Iceland’s central bank, demanding the sacking of its chief, David Oddsson.
The demonstrators staged an hour-long standoff with shield-wielding riot police inside the bank’s lobby, singing songs and chanting “Out with David” and “Power to the People.” The protest ended peacefully when both police and demonstrators agreed to withdraw.’
Those that listened to my radio show last night, will know the second hour was one of the hardest interviews I have ever had to do. It choked me so much I could hardly speak as we went into the end of hour two.
My guest was Brian Howes. He and his wife Kerry have four young children and are facing extradition to the USA under this unfair and unjust extradition treaty I keep going on about. They face up to 95 years in a max-security prison and will never see their children again.
Brian at one point made this emotional statement “Kerry has vowed she will not go to America, and never see her children again, she has said she will commit suicide instead, and if she goes, I go”.
The pair have already spent 214 days in prison, and during this time Brian spent 30 days on hunger strike. Their bail conditions mean they have to sign in at their local police station THREE TIMES EVERY DAY.
Their crime? They had a LEGAL chemical sales company, but one US citizen found that one of the chemicals legal in the UK, could be used to make “crystal meth”. On that alone, they are being sought for extradition to stand trial in the USA.
Our government offer NO PROTECTION of UK citizens any more, and just like Gary McKinnon, these people are being thrown to the lions. A British passport used to mean something, we knew as citizens we could travel the world and be protected by our government and our embassies, but no longer it would seem!
The ironic thing is, we cannot get an American citizen extradited without him/her first being proven guilty through trial in their own country!
We MUST act to get our government to review this unjust and unfair treaty which is a breach of our human rights. PLEASE sign the petition NOW and ask everyone you know to do the same…. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/US-extradition

Police attempts to outlaw the monthly Critical Mass cycle ride through the streets of London unless its route was notified in advance were blocked by the Law Lords today.
The House of Lords allowed a challenge by cyclist Des Kay to a Court of Appeal ruling that the Metropolitan Police had the right to demand prior notice of the ride’s date, time and route and the names and addresses of the organisers.
Cyclists who gather on the South Bank and ride through the city to celebrate safe cycling have in the past been handed written notices by the police stating that the event was unlawful because no advance notice was given.
But the Law Lords held that the event, which had no organisers or set route and proceeded on a “follow my leader” basis, was not governed by section 11 of the Public Order Act 1986.
Friends of the Earth Rights and Justice Centre, which acted for Mr Kay, hailed the ruling as “an important victory for the right to peaceful protest and for cyclists to take part in this monthly celebration of cycling”.
The University of Oxford is seeking a permanent exclusion zone around its animal research laboratory, which opened yesterday.
A temporary injunction already in place restricts people from demonstrating within a certain radius of its Biomedical Sciences Building but the university wants to make this permanent at a court hearing scheduled for next year.
Demonstrations and the intimidation of contractors and staff by animal rights activists delayed the building’s completion by about two years and although the university said that it does not yet have a figure for the lab’s final cost it is believed that the total sum far exceeds the published figure of £18m.
As well as restricting demonstrations near the laboratory, the injunction prohibits picketing or demonstrating within 100 yards of the residence of any protected person, and bans people from identifying or following vehicles entering or leaving the exclusion zone.
‘The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012.’
The Strategic Health Authority (SHA) acting with the Primary Care Trust (PCT) - parts of the NHS are currently ‘looking’ at evidence to help them reach their decision on whether to fluoridate the water in the Southamtpon area - this would also include other areas outside of southamtpon city itself.
They plan to put 112.3 tonnes of fluoricidic acid into the water. This isn’t pure pharmaceutical grade fluoride but industrial waste probably from the Netherlands where its use is banned just like in most other European countries. Along with the fluoride ions you get heavy metals like mercury and lead - they are essentially dumping.
You can also click on share your views to fill in an online form and let them know what you think!!!
I think that if this goes through it could signal a roll out of Fluoridation in a lot more areas - they are trying their luck again…so by no means is this an isolated event. 90 % of Southampton residents in a wessex poll were against it, but that isn’t stopping them.
The report itself seems to read like a sales brochure, not an impartial, peer reviewed balanced investigation. And why would it be balanced - the government funded it and they want to fluoridate.
They concentrate on teeth, the scientific link between better dental health and fluoridation being tenuous at best. Very few studies into health effects have been looked at. Those that have been done worldwide at higher than 1ppm, but the SHA say they are only going to look at studies at 1ppm - those studies haven’t been done in the fluoridated countries. how convenient…..-thus they don’t mention those real studies that show adverse health effects.
I suspect they may think they’ve made up their minds already, but hopefully our views will still be taken into account. if enough people come forward they won’t be able to push it through.
The last date for evidence is December the 19th 2008 and they’ll make their decision in Jan/Feb next year.
There are two question time events left before the deadline. Both are at St.Mary’s stadium (In the Mick Channon suite) between 7-9 pm
The first is on the 18th of November and the second, December the 3rd.
Professor Paul Connett acting as part of Hampshire against fluoride takes the report apart and exposes it for what it is; a public relations exercise.
He was professor of chemistry at St. Lawrence University and has spent 12 years looking at both the environmental and toxicological effects of fluoride including neurological, osteopathic and thyroid disorders that have been linked to its use even at modest doses.
Mark Thomas shows us in his own inimitable style just how to ‘Play The Game’ and win against the barrage of ‘Big Brother’ draconian laws that have come in to restrict our Civil Liberies.
This is a absolutely hilarious 3 part session but look through the humour and see the structures of how to play their system.
An Internet grass-roots campaign will this week deliver a copy of GeorgeOrwell’s prophetic novel ‘Nineteen Eighty-Four’ to every Member of Parliament.
The books will be inscribed with the words, ‘This book was a warning, not a blueprint’, and will arrive at Parliament on or before November 5th — adate of well known historical significance for that building.
Throughout the history of mankind, the elite have always fought for world empire. Now, using secrecy and international banking systems, they are making their final push for world government. Only an educated and informed public can stop them in their tracks.
There are many people living in the North West, who are exceptionally talented
and willing to share their ideas/therapies/inventions with an audience. The
Blackpool Gatherings provide a relaxed, informal platform for everybody to enjoy
and it also fulfils the important task of connecting up like minded people.
This event will be our fourth and we have a really exciting line up of
presenters.
The presentations, are often designed to be inter-active with the audience and
this one is no exception. For example, under the heading of ’self healing’ some
very valuable techniques involving energy medicine can be learned from Maureen
Saunders. The techniques work and are so valuable in these modern times when
vibrant, vital good health seems to elude so many people.
David Boyle who has created the Exhibition of the Universe and also runs the Dr.
Who Exhibition, will be giving us an exciting update on his alternative energy
invention which he calls ‘Solar Steel.’ The prototype has been built and it
works!! Already many countries are showing a keen interest in his invention.
Here is a list of these talented people, together with their web sites if
appropriate :-
The campaign to Make Wars History is the Stop-the-War campaign with knobs on! MWH has a fighting chance (pardon the metaphor) of succeeding where STW plainly won’t (beyond making a noise on the street), namely, to Stop War Permanently.
MWH’s message and modus operandi are quite simple: there exist already a number of international treaties and laws dating back to the aftermath of WW1 (the first signed by 60 countries in 1928) which clearly make it a CRIMINAL OFFENCE to initiate or wage war under ANY circumstances, bar self-defence in the event of a direct attack which is already in motion. Pre-emptive strikes are therefore not an option, nor any other form of prophylactic aggression. Nor, according to the Nuremberg Judgement of 1946 does simply ‘following orders’ exonerate any of those engaged in the prosecution of war from liability. And Genocide in any shape or form is a criminal offence.
In other words modern war-law is unequivocal that 99.9% of modern war is ILLEGAL, therefore those who initiate it are in breach and liable for prosecution as criminals. The MWH campaign focuses most particularly on the Law Enforcement officers (police)whose job it is to apprehend criminals and bring them to justice, hence we are busy reporting the heads of our government and all those who endorsed the invasion of Iraq as criminals under international law. The police are failing in their duty if they neglect to arrest these ‘war-criminals’. Another target group is the Armed Forces; new recruits are reminded that if they enlist for service in illegal wars they themselves will be accessories to crime and liable for prosecution. But nor do ordinary citizens escape liability – if you endorse the actions of a criminal government by paying taxes in support of illegal wars you are yourselves accessories to the crime – so don’t pay your taxes!!
Neat, eh? Especially in these harsh economic times when many might wish to dodge their taxes!! However could MWH be playing some kind of game, since few will take seriously the injunction to have prominent politicians and their legal advisers and senior members of the military arrested as common criminals. Nor will those who sign up to serve ‘King & Country’ on foreign fields be regarded by the mass of the public as anything but heroes, never mind that the war was wrong to start with, those who give their lives in it are still heroes! And as for withholding taxes, well you’ll be preventing all those poor people who need benefits from receiving them. Government needs tax-money to provide welfare services and to fund the NHS in its current incarnation as well as paying for soldiers to fight wars.
To all these objectors and quibblers and folk who pooh-pooh any effort to try to end war we would remind you that you do not question the need for LAW in general as a means of ensuring social stability and as the bedrock of a civilised and orderly society. The laws outlawing war are no exception. Anti-war legislation in constraining governments from embarking on mindless violence and destruction is surely a most vital part of the whole body of law, both national and international. A crying shame that it has been to date far too little known about nor recognised.
It is MWH’s aim to redress this omission and to flag up the substantial body of anti-war law which already exists and could be utilised in helping bring about a permanently peaceful and orderly world.
One day human beings will hopefully be mature enough to be able to do without law and laws. But in the meantime our frail and fallible laws are all we have to ensure that civilisation, like the laborious progress of a climber up a sheer mountainside, continues upwards to the level to which we all aspire, whether we are builders of the New World Order, New Age visionaries or just ordinary citizens!
MWH in marrying POPULAR REVULSION AGAINST WAR, as demonstrated on February 15th 2003 (when 2 million marched in central London to try to stem the initiation of war against Iraq) to existing WAR-LAW is providing a timely means of advancing civilisation and outlawing barbarity.
A campaign and principles worth supporting, surely.
I am writing to inform you of my dismay to learn of events of 11th October on
Church Street in Liverpool city centre. The main instigating officer involved was P.C Wilson – he and others seized leaflets and property of a peaceful group of people.
I am most surprised that so many officers were suddenly able to show a complete disregard for the law and seize property and suppress freedom of expression. There seem to be some problems in the training of your officers – in20that they did not know that they were breaking the law – how is this possible? Is it Merseyside Police’s policy to now just break the law for “something to do”? What I mean is, we can clearly see from the video record it was completely peaceful situation – basically people walking around, just talking, discussing “the state of the world” and officers casually walk in and seize property from legal and pre-authorised street stalls! One has to wonder if these officers have attended Common Purpose training courses (yes, some of us know all about this!) It does seem like this sort of policing policy could have been dictated by Common Purpose Graduates rather than according to laws already voted on by elected representatives.
So, I hope you will disciplining and prosecuting all the officers who have broken the law – and also taking full responsibility for returning property and setting to rights the damage you and your officers are responsible for – in a totally unprovoked incident that illegal police action created. Will you be paying back the tax payers of Liverpool for the costs unnecessarily incurred in this pointless incident?
Now, you must at some point realise that all this nonsense about terrorism (which is likely what this police action is somehow, some way – vaguely, probably, potentially related to) is soon going to be fully exposed. For example, we have a video clip of Sir Ian Blair saying“If London could survive the Blitz, it can survive four miserable bombers like this…. I’m not saying there are four bombers…. four miserable events like this.” And there is much other incriminating evidence that shows 7/7 was a complete “set up”. I could go on.
At some point your policies for matters relating to supposed terrorism will need to be scrapped (as they are based on a scam). Oh and by the way, it is often said that terrorists attack because “they hate our freedoms”. Judging by what happened on 11th Oct, some members of Merseyside Police seem to at least dislike certain freedoms, even if they don’t “hate them”. Are you concerned about this?
As your officers were so keen to collect leaflets on the 11th Oct, I have included a couple here for you (and a couple of booklets). I suggest you study and resea rch the topics that they cover. You will then realise “you’ve been had” and someone is lying to you and the rest of us. Look at what is really going on in the world – if you want a future, that is. As a suggestion, contact me for more leaflets and booklets to use on a new training course for your officers (or just distribute them to all stations). I would be grateful if you would please pass this information on to other forces (it will save me a job). Feel free to copy them! Who knows, perhaps you’ll even help us in Dr Judy Wood’s US Court Case (now on appeal) she is attempting to sue NIST’s contractors for their role in producing the fraudulent WTC reports. (The BBC and others have essentially been complicit in the crime by not reporting on any of the details of this case, but that’s another story.)
In the final analysis, who are you (and your officers) serving, Mr Hogan-Howe? I hope you can answer that question comfortably enough to sleep at night.
Yours Sincerely,
Andrew Johnson
Perhaps we can all use this as a template for our own letters of protest over the events of October 11th
Baton-wielding police clashed with protesters yesterday as an anti-arms demo erupted into violence.
About a dozen people were injured as skirmishes flared during the demo – the latest in a series aimed at EDO/ITT, the Brighton-based weapons component manufacturer.
The main flashpoint occurred on Lewes Road, by the junction with Home Farm Road in Moulsecoomb, as hundreds of protesters came up against scores of police.
Officers closed both lanes of Lewes Road just after 1pm and prevented most of the group from moving south of the viaduct, which crosses the road.
Pepper spray was used on the crowd as it surged forward, attempting to break through the ranks of police. A number of people were hit with batons and needed first aid.
There were also other minor clashes around The Level as a small number of protesters managed to make their way into the city centre.
Traffic around the junction of Gardner Street and Church Street was brought to a standstill for a short time as demonstrations took place.
There were reports of a similar situation at the Clock Tower and near the Palace Pier.
