‘The myth of “al Qaida” is built on an expansive foundation of many half-truths and hidden facts. It is a CIA creation. It was shaped by the agency to serve as a substitute “enemy” for America, replacing the Soviets whom the Islamist forces had driven from Afghanistan. Unknown American officials, at an indeterminate point in time, made the decision to fabricate the tale of a mythical worldwide network of Islamic terrorists from the exploits of the Afghan Mujahedeen.
The CIA already had their own network of Islamic militant “freedom fighters,” all that was needed were a few scattered terrorist attacks against US targets and a credible heroic figurehead, to serve as the “great leader”.’
Thousands of drivers who would have escaped prosecution for collisions after simply swapping insurance details will now face likely prosecution as soon as the police become involved.
An array of trivial motoring offences in addition to minor crashes are also likely to lead to action under proposals to give police powers to issue fixed penalty notices for careless driving.
They could include eating, drinking or smoking at the wheel, reading a map, tuning a radio or arguing with a passenger.
All funds raised from the on-the-spot fines will go directly to the Treasury, which already makes more than £100 million a year from speed cameras.
The proposals triggered fears of a surge in the number of drivers being prosecuted, as happened following the introduction of speed cameras.
More than 1,000 messages asking for ID cards have flooded into the Home Office.
Over the last two years, 1,142 out of 3,073 pieces of correspondence to government on the biometric cards have been classified as “wants an ID card”, according to Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.
Smith revealed the figures in a recent parliamentary written answer where she added that the cards appear to be growing in popularity.
“From October 2007 to September 2008, the number one theme every month, accounting for by far the most common subject matter, has been ‘wants an ID card’,” she said.

We live and struggle in an era of blatantly militarized capitalism and the violence of capital. And the hidden fist that keeps the world safe for Silicon Valley’s technologies is called the United States Army, Air Force and Marine Corps.”
Militarized capitalism: The military-industrial complex in 2008
What is the military-industrial complex in 2008? Where is it? What does it look like? I am not even sure if the phrase, used so famously by former US president Dwight Eisenhower in 1961 is the best descriptor to encompass the many tentacles and facets of the war and security industry and the links and connections between capital and its political allies. Do terms like ‘defence industry’ and ‘arms trade’ adequately encompass the face of today’s war profiteers, whose devastating impacts can equally be found in the high-tech apartheid wall being built by Israel to seal off the West Bank and Gaza, and its Western Hemispheric counterpart on the US-Mexico border, in the computer flight simulation programs provided to US and British military by Canada’s CAE, in private corporate mercenary armies like Blackwater, DynCorp and Aegis in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, in the outsourced intelligence, IT, interrogation and translation services of L-3/Titan, in the massive military aid budgets which the US gives to the governments of Israel, Pakistan, Egypt and Colombia, among others, and in the ‘hearts and minds’ operations of US Special Operations Forces based in the Philippines doing ‘humanitarian work’ - medical, dental and other social services, including infrastructure projects in many remote communities - services which should be the function of a government, in Mindanao, as much as it is in weapons production and arms exports.
Like all transnational corporations, these companies enjoy both patronage and revolving door relationships with the highest echelons of governments and their armed forces, tax breaks, support for exports, and all kinds of other incentives which help them to focus firmly on their bottom line – profit. US administrations, regardless of their party allegiance, brim with politicians with investments and business interests in the defence industry and war profiteers, perhaps most vividly symbolized by Dick Cheney’s ties to Halliburton and its multi-billion-dollar contracts to provide construction, hospitality, and other services to the US military after the invasion of Iraq in 2003. But it is business as usual for US militarized capitalism. An April 2008 Centre for Responsive Politics report states that US Congress members invested US $196 million of their own money in companies that receive hundreds of millions of dollars a day from Pentagon contracts to provide goods and services to US armed forces, ranging from aircraft and weapons manufacturers to producers of medical supplies and soft drinks. To cite a couple of typical revolving door examples, General Dynamics board of directors includes an ex-Vice Chief of US Army staff, a former US Air Force General, a former Chief of Naval Operations in the US Navy, and a former Chief of Defence Procurement at the British Ministry of Defence, while Canada’s CAE’s current and former executives include a former Canadian minister for international trade and former PM Mulroney’s head of staff.
There are a lot of ‘Tsars’ operating in and around British government these days.
I have just looked up that word in the dictionary. Tsar derives from ‘Caesar’ and it means TYRANT. But of course, it being a Russian word we don’t really understand, we naively let go of the fact that it has evil connotations.
Actually, it’s the corporate media that lets go of the fact. They choose names like ‘tsar’ for us; we the people are just on the receiving end.
I see this morning that the Government’s Climate Change Tsar, who goes by the name of Adair Turner (a smiling assassin; pictured below) is telling us that all households will have to contribute 500 pounds each in order to help fight Climate Change.
Israel went back on a pledge to ease its blockade of the Gaza Strip on Thursday, turning away critical deliveries of fuel and food at the borders for the seventh consecutive day.
In reneging on its pledge, Israel blocked delivery of United Nations food aid intended for 750,000 Palestinians.
Gaza was plunged into darkness as the territory’s only power plant shut down at 6:00pm local time due to a lack of fuel. Just before dark, Palestinans went into the streets in a frantic search for candles and bread.
As night fell, sirens sounded accross the Gaza Strip in protest of the closure.
Earlier in the day, 20 European consuls who planned to visit Gaza were turned away at the Erez border crossing. Aid workers were also denied entry to the Strip and medical patients were prevented from entering Israel for treatment.
John Ging, the director of UN operations in Gaza, warned of an impending “humanitarian disaster” if Israel continues to bar food and other supplies from the territory.
“We cannot describe the situation in the Gaza Strip except as a terrible and terrifying one. There are 750,000 refugees who depend on what we offer them in food supplies. Israel is preventing us from distributing these supplies,” he told Ma’an.
Britain’s security agencies and police would be given unprecedented and legally binding powers to ban the media from reporting matters of national security, under proposals being discussed in Whitehall.
The Intelligence and Security Committee, the parliamentary watchdog of the intelligence and security agencies which has a cross-party membership from both Houses, wants to press ministers to introduce legislation that would prevent news outlets from reporting stories deemed by the Government to be against the interests of national security.
The committee also wants to censor reporting of police operations that are deemed to have implications for national security. The ISC is to recommend in its next report, out at the end of the year, that a commission be set up to look into its plans, according to senior Whitehall sources.
The ISC holds huge clout within Whitehall. It receives secret briefings from MI5, MI6 and GCHQ and is highly influential in forming government policy. Kim Howells, a respected former Foreign Office minister, was recently appointed its chairman. Under the existing voluntary code of conduct, known as the DA-Notice system, the Government can request that the media does not report a story. However, the committee’s members are particularly worried about leaks, which, they believe, could derail investigations and the reporting of which needs to be banned by legislation.
Civil liberties groups say these restrictions would be “very dangerous” and “damaging for public accountability”. They also point out that censoring journalists when the leaks come from officials is unjustified.
CNN carried a report that the US is funding the Iranian Nuclear program via two Russian Institutes.
The US Energy Secretary stated that the Busher reactor is for peaceful purposes of power generation which directly contradicts the State departments position that Busher is being used to ramp up Nuclear weapons development.
See how CNN put this oversight down to incompetance but in my opinion it is obvious that the duality of the Bush, and previous administrations in it’s well documented history of funding of both sides to create and sustain problems that it can then provide a solution to has come to light once again!

No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space. No one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets. Sound familiar people?? Instead “..across the gulf of space” maybe its across the gulf of dimensions. Maybe its both. Whatever it is something bad is happening on/in this World. The time to stop it & create change for the better is well overdue I’m sure many would agree. But stop it we must before its too late, but in my book its never too late, there’s always a way out & humans are very resourceful beings indeed, especially those that are awake to TRUTH INSIDE.
I listen a lot to talk radio shows & on numerous occasions have heard callers say “we should get rid of human rights” or “human rights should be abolished” etc, because they say the loony lefty, liberal, sandal wearing, yoghurt knitting brigade always defend the poor little criminals’ human rights. Whilst I agree with some of their positive sentiments, good intent & understandable, so obvious & yet albeit automatic response to the state of current society for everybody’s entitlement to human rights, getting things in perspective & some clear, sensible thinking is required in this always (it seems) contentious area.
Criminals & anyone in general who have bad intent to make others lives a misery or even bring them to an end should be properly made to see the error of their ways & shown a better way to perceive life for the good of all. I’ve witnessed this working positively on many occasions & I’m sure I’m not alone in that, after all we’re all only human (on this level anyway).
Which leads me back to the human rights issue. Those people calling for the abolition of human rights DO NOT yet realise they are playing straight into the government’s hands/lap, or rather the self-serving force/agenda it seems they swear allegiance to. But it could be too late when/if they ever do realise it. The anti-human puppets who (it seems) swear allegiance to the (it seems) self-serving anti-human force obviously like nothing more than to hear people calling for the abolition of human rights.
WE MUST NEVER ABOLISH OUR HUMAN RIGHTS. We must NEVER let this happen. This would be the final death knell for humanity. Our human rights are one of the very few, & dwindling on a daily basis, protections that we have left against those evil doers/makers. I repeat criminals should be made to see their error & of course that, in the first instance, should apply to those evil self-serving pigs at Westminster & all over the world & beyond. The force they serve caused the rebellion of rebellions & war in heaven a long, long time ago & now its our turn to rebel against their skewed, screwed, control freakery, fascist, domineering (non)logic. While I’d be the first in line to defend everyone’s right to a different view of life & opinion & also defend their liberties & freedom of speech, we must properly & clearly remember that these are the very same so-called ‘people’ that are serving an agenda to take away our liberties & freedom of speech. I also agree that I shouldn’t impose my view of life on anyone else but the self-serving pigs are daily imposing their views on us due to the agenda they serve whilst pretending to serve us. Extreme times call for extreme measures & this time (if you agree with anything I’ve written thus far) we need to be on a MISSION IMPOSABLE if we want to end the suffering & start to create a better future for our world. We CANNOT ANY LONGER just carry on & let them pull the rug from under our feet (as they’re doing regards the state takeover of banks & inevitably bank accounts it looks to me. Are you happy with the biggest organisation of thieves & crooks having access to your hard earned savings?? Brown & Bush (the smirkin gherkin) can’t believe their luck). We can only have the rug pulled from under our feet whilst our eyes are blinkered. Lift the blinkers & awaken to TRUTH WITHIN & the reality of the situation & predicament humanity is in becomes clear.
But what to do about it all?? Lots of people around the globe are awakening to humanity’s predicament & doing what they can to help bring positive change for the better. Something we can all start to do is to stop playing the self-serving agenda’s game by its rules & play our own game by our own rules. Everyone individually can play their own game by their own rules. Little changes everyday will make a HUGE difference. This is absolutely detestable to the self-serving anti-human league/cabal/agenda as it ends their illusion of control. There are far too many disillusioned, lost souls (the vast majority) in this wonderful world which herself needs our help to regain balance & harmony. For far too long negative, imbalanced energy has been pouring into this world. This has been tackled/checked by people in the know over decades now but more positive energy is needed.

Obtained under Freedom of Information laws, reports showed one boy aged six in Derby was taken from his home by social workers because he was dangerously obese.
Another boy in London, aged 12, was put into care with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 28 - 60 per cent above the 17.5 average for his age.
In Cumbria, social services intervened when one girl aged only eight weighed over 9st and wore size 16 clothes.
Dr Colin Waine, former head of the National Obesity Forum, called for closer monitoring of children to avoid them being taken into care.
He told The Daily Mirror: “This would enable appropriate action to be taken so we eliminate the need for such drastic measures. I’m looking for a position where this never becomes necessary.”
Recent figures suggest a third of 13-year-olds are obese or overweight, and that a million children in England will be obese within five years.
Earlier this month, Tam Fry, a member of the National Obesity Forum’s board, told a conference that youngster over-fed by their parents should be treated as victims of abuse, as happens with malnourished children.
Mr Fry said: “It is drastic but it’s a long-term therapy. For the sake of the children it does need to be done because we have got children who are horrendously fat.”
John Hutton has become the first defence secretary to back a French plan for a European army, branding those who dismiss it as “pathetic”.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Sunday Times, he said: “I think we’ve got to be pragmatic about those things. Where it can help, we should be part of it.”
His support goes beyond the public position of Gordon Brown, the prime minister, and will antagonise those who believe that further European cooperation will undermine Nato by excluding the United States.
Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, has sought to develop Europe’s military structures with new headquarters and rapid reaction forces, each consisting of 1,500 troops from member countries.
Britain’s most expensive credit card, which carries an interest rate of 227 per cent, is being promoted as a solution for hardpressed families this Christmas.
The Easy Shop card is linked to Argos and offers one possible solution to parents who do not have the cash to buy presents for the children.
However, MPs and debt experts last night condemned the extortionate charges as ‘wicked’ and warned struggling shoppers to reject the card.
Argos chiefs revealed last week that the company’s sales are running around 9 per cent down on this time last year.
The firm apparently believes that the Easy Shop card will help its bottom line in the crucial festive trading period.
A customer borrowing £100 on the card and repaying it over 27 weeks at £5 a week would pay a total of £135, which equates to an APR - annual percentage rate - of 227 per cent.
The card is produced in association with the finance company Provident Financial.
The rate of 227 per cent is based not only on the interest that must be paid but also takes into account how the loan is repaid, the length of the loan, and the timing and amount of payments.
Retail giant Argos teamed up with Provident Financial to produce Britain’s most expensive credit card
The Liberal Democrat Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP described the marketing of cards and loans with such extortionate interest rates as ‘wicked’.
Dr Cable has been warning for ten years about reckless lending and spiralling personal debt, which now tops£1trillion.
He said: ‘A lot of people are finding it increasingly difficult to borrow from the mainstream high street banks.
‘Many may well feel they have to fall back on things like this. There is a real risk of a very large number of people being exploited as a result.’
British businesses are being tied up with record levels of Brussels red tape, a report warned yesterday.
The TaxPayers’ Alliance says that UK firms are struggling under the ’severe burden’ of EU regulation, which is estimated to cost £150billion a year.
The study found that there are currently 16,980 EU laws in force in this country and they are increasing at a rate of 2,000 a year.
It said that Whitehall had added to the regulatory burden by using EU directives as ‘vehicles for their own policy agendas’ and attaching numerous additional clauses and extending their scope - a practice known as ‘gold-plating’.
Ben Farrugia from the alliance said: ‘Regulations are an enormous burden to business, particularly in a time of financial hardship. The EU’s addiction to regulating and Whitehall’s compulsive gold-plating have added billions to business costs in recent years.
‘Both the legislative process which has created this regulatory tangle and Britain’s relationship with the EU needs a serious rethink.’

The idea of parasites can be horrific but has to be acknowledged as very real. Ignoring the problem will not make it go away.
Don’t hope you’ve got no parasites - you’ve probably got hundreds if not thousands. After all you exchange thousands of parasites when you kiss your partner, your children or your pets. And we are not talking about bacteria here. There are good and bad bacteria, but there is rarely an occasion when parasites are ‘good’ for you. First let’s establish what parasites are and how they behave.
There have always been parasites and there will always be parasites. The issue today is that our digestive and immune systems have become so compromised that parasites can quickly colonize a digestive tract or a weakened, stressed body with little or no opposition.
Parasites can harm us in many ways, but their presence displays patterns which we can look for. They cause physical and mental trauma by perforating our organs and circulatory systems, they block our organ functions by clustering or grouping together, they steal vital nutrients and dump metabolic wastes which our systems have trouble expelling. Their mere presence continually stimulates the immune system response and over time exhausts it, leaving the body open to bacterial and viral infections.
We are all zoo keepers of bacteria, parasites, viruses, fungi and yeasts, and life is about living in harmony with our biology. Harmony is symbiosis, as opposed to disharmony or dysbiosis which describes the state many of us have come to be in.
We live at a time when many of the certainties taken for granted by our parents and grandparents are being destroyed under our very eyes. Even in the socialist Seventies, no one imagined the Government could control not one, not two, but three High Street banks. Our forefathers also believed, with some justification, that Britain was the freest country in the world.
Unlike some Continental nations, let alone those in the Soviet Bloc, we did not have a large state apparatus spying on people’s private activities. However, since 1997 New Labour has progressively undermined this assumption. We have more CCTV cameras than any other country in the world. Our DNA database, which comprises four million people, many of whom have committed no crime at all, is also bigger than that of any other country. Identity cards are in the pipeline.
Even so, I am dumbfounded by proposals unveiled by Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, in a speech yesterday. The Government is considering creating one vast database which will contain details of every single e-mail and telephone call, mobile or otherwise, made in the United Kingdom.
“Last Saturday (11th) Merseyside Police broke up a legal political mass stall by various organisations on Church Street in Liverpool city centre that had been planned for some time, arresting two political activists in the process. The mass stall was arranged by various groups after the wrongful arrest of a Liverpool political activist in August for distributing leaflets and selling political newspapers on Church Street, allowed under Government legislation and Section 6 of the Human Rights Act 1998.
Last Saturday, various groups arranged to meet on Bold Street before heading to Church Street to set up stalls at one o’clock in the afternoon. Upon our arrival a police officer was already present harassing the Cuba Solidarity group. After seeing the various groups arrive the officer then called for backup and within fifteen minutes there were several officers on the scene removing stalls and literature from all groups present without any warning. This caused a major protest in the street and led to the heavy handed arrests of an Anarchist Federation member and an animal rights activist. The AF activist was arrested for simply refusing to stop handing out leaflets before refusing to give his details to the police. As well as this, the police were also heavy handed towards other activists and forcefully attempted to arrest two female activists later on.
The police action led to members of the public joining activists in successfully blocking the police car with the activists inside for nearly an hour, preventing the officers from leaving Church Street and heading to the police station. The police officers then called for even more re-enforcements who arrived and forcefully moved the protesters back, resulting in the police cars finally leaving Church Street with the two activists inside.
The disgraceful behaviour of the police managed to attract the attention of a good amount of passers by who joined in the protest and the police were completely humiliated and outnumbered.
The only obstruction in Church Street, Liverpool was Merseyside police vehicles and the crowd who gathered to see what was going on and stayed to support the protest. Activists and the public surrounded and blocked the exit of the police van, but the police were being hardline and couldn’t see that they caused the biggest obstruction in Liverpool for many years. The public were on the side of the political activists and chanted with us at various times “Let Them Go! - Let Them Go!” The police were offered the chance a number of times to unarrest the activists (as they could have done at any time) and we would disperse.
Merseyside police went in heavy handed and nobody could reason with them, the two arrested are due to be summonsed along with another 8 to 12 people despite doing nothing illegal.
For years political organisations have gathered on a weekend in various parts of the city centre and have been tolerated during that time. However, recently we have seen the harassment of activists on a weekly basis from the police during the Capital of Culture year in an attempt to “clean up the streets”. The actions of several police officers on the 11th October were yet another attempt to break up a legal gathering of activists.
This saturday various groups will gather again as usual in the city centre to demand the basic right to freedom of speech and peaceful assembly and support from members of the public is needed on this day. I ask all of you reding this to attend and pass the details of this event on to other people in order to obtain a good presence on the day.’
In Mario Puzo’s book, The Godfather, Vito Corleone is able to rise to power by intimidation and sometimes murder. As Puzo describes it, Corleone made sure that his competitors in distributing olive oil (yes, Vito did do olive oil, among a few other things) had a few problems, like having their delivery trucks robbed, oil dumped in the streets, and whatever else it took to convince his rivals that they should not compete with him.
The Godfather, of course, is a novel (later made into a movie). It is eminently readable, but a novel all the same. What happened this past week, however, was not from a novel, but rather from the mouth of the former U.S. vice president and the Nobel Peace Prize winner:
LONDON, England (CNN) – Former vice president and environmental campaigner Al Gore has urged young people to protest against new coal-fired power plants that don’t use carbon capture and storage technology.
Speaking at the opening plenary session of the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York, Gore said: “If you’re a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration.”
There is a problem, of course, and that is that there is no developed technology of “carbon capture” for power plants that can be applied on a large scale, and the early reports are that such a technology would add another 50 percent to the capital costs of the project, making the plant so expensive that it is not worth building in the first place. Thus, my first reaction to this article was to dismiss it as Al Gore being Al Gore: like the idiot uncle in the closet who escapes once in a while.
Security minister Lord West last night claimed that ‘another great plot’ is being investigated by the police and security services. The warning of a potential new terrorist attack came as a dramatic intervention in a House of Lords debate over new terrorism powers.
Lord West, the Home Office’s counter-terrorism minister, declared: ‘There is another great (terrorist) plot building up again and we are monitoring this.’ The threat is ‘huge’, he added. The former head of the Royal Navy, and part of Gordon Brown’s so-called ‘Government of all the talents’, gave no further details.
